View Full Version : dial-up and wireless networking
I've never actually dealt with this, maybe you all can point me in the right direction. Got a customer who wants to keep his AOL:( , but also have a wireless network in his house. Am I right in assuming that I'll need an external 56K modem, wireless AP(or router), and a wireless card for each computer? Don't want to mess with ICS, just the router. Can it be done? Thanks.

ONly problem would be sharing the AOL dialup account... we all know how much hell AOL can be. ;)

If they want to keep AOL, you know AOL does broadband?

Yeah, especially after the stuperbowl commercials for it, lol. I don't think they want the extra monthly payments for high speed. Oh well, this is how a simple computer build turns into a colostomy.

I am not sure that AOL will work with an External Modem and a Router. Their "funny" DialUp socket will not do it.
Some times Wireless and Internal DialUp Modem might work if you use the following instead of ICS.
