Question about 8port linksys router with QoS

I just bought a Linksys 8 port router with QoS (BEFSR81). in the router settings I can enable QoS and set priorities on certain ports or protocols. Does this actually work? I was wondering cuase there is someone on the network I want to limit bandwith too, will this do it or no? just wondering
