View Full Version : CabelNut Config Not working!
ok i read and reread all the info for tweeking my adsl, somebody please tell me what im doing right or wrong here is my tcp/ip anlizer thing
TCP options string = 020405a401010402
MTU = 1484
Unrecognized MTU, or MTU = 0.
MSS = 1444
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1444, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 63888
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 63888
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
508288 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
254144 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
127072 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63536 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2555.52 kbps (319.44 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1022.208 kbps (127.776 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 50 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000
now is this write or is it wrong some body please tell me what to do or not to do

dsl usb modem modem name is westell, by bellsouth
First off ditch the usb got out by a network card and a network cable you won't regret it.
Second what is the model number of westall if it's the model i think it is you might not use any software let me explain.
With dsl ppoe most connections you have to use software to login to use the net however there is modems that do the login process for you ,so you don't have to use the software.
I need to know the model so i could show a guide and or steps how to get the mtu adjusted first b4 any tweaks.
ok model # is b90-220030-04
yeha i plan on getting a nic card very soon!, i going to be getting a new computer so i will get one with that!!
thanks, kygo

http://www.dslnuts.com/files/cmtu10017.zip downlaod and unzip this tool run it type 1492 apply changes and reboot take another analyzer and see if mtu changed.
ok i appled it and this is my report

ok it didn't work??? i applyed and every thing and rebooted to.
why ant it changing! umm, well off to bed thanks for helping

http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6405 follow this the Put in bridge mode you may need the software below to connect again also check to see if there is a firmware upgrade for that modem too. While in there if you see anything that said mtu or 1484 change it, if not
follow this guide http://dslnuts.com/pppoe/mtustuck.htm install that software even though you are not going to need it will fix mtu.
After you did that go back into the modem then put the ppoe back and see if the mtu stays. :D
i have read and reread on how to install uninstall and everything about this but it just will not change to 1492, i've been messen with this thing for 4 hours!!!, i tired of it, here is my tcp info

if you konw a magical way to do it let me if i don't want to do this again i almost lost my connection, and almost could not get it back up a gain, so i am going to let it be

http://dslnuts.com/pppoe/XPCON.htm This one should work just keep it the modem in bridgemode follow that wizard adn connect via software just for now to see if mtu chnaged
is either 1480 or 1492 for xp you could use on or the other for mtu no speed difference.

Sorry to double if that wizard didn't work try this with http://www.carricksolutions.com/XP_MTU.reg and connect the internet via modem.
ok i did all that and this is what i got in the tcp/ip thing

Nope you don't need to change it to 1492. Take a speed test let me know the resaults sorry for all the steps some days are eaiser then others.
ok speed test is
818kbps, 100kBps
and tcp/info is

Get that network card that's probably what's slowing you down.
