I am having a problem when I'm capturing video off my Canon ZR-40 digital camcorder to my computer. I'm using Roxio DVD creator with the latest updates. When the video is being captured, it's fine while the camcorder is focused on one subject, but when I move the camera, the lines become all jagged. I didn't have this problem when I was using Windows 2000 Pro but have since upgraded to XP Pro. The only other thing that has changed is I weet to a Radeon 9600XT from an NVidia card and also installed Windows Media Encoder to facilitate using PCMark 04.

Any ideas ?

I just went back and checked the actual captured videos and they recorded video (.avi) does not have the jagged lines so I guess all is well, bu if someone has a solution for the display problem I'd love to hear it. The jaggies are annoying.......

:D

Oh ya, I do have the latest Divx codec installed too.

it looks like a deinterlacing problem. when you import DV, it is always interlaced and will look like it's got little stitches on all edges, which is normal; i just completed a documentary and it definitely looks ugly during the creation procress. once you export to dvd it should go away, and at the very least a proper dvd playing software should deinterlace it in real time, and tv players usually need it encoded in interlaced mode.

It was weird the first time I saw it. Why do I have t with XP and not with W2000 Pro ? (Curious)

it would be hard to isolate the problem, but possibly the nvidia card had acceleration which removed the interlaced lines vs ATI.

you may also have a setting missing in your software; search "deinterlace" in the manual. you can always try downloading a trial of another program to see if it's roxio's product.
