I took this weekend to replace my clutch in the Jeep.
Here are some shots of the fun.
The Jeep waiting to be stripped of it's tranny

I dropped the driveshaft

Removed the center console and shifter

Removed the slaved cylinder from the trans and removed the crossmember, supporting it with a jack.

Yanked it out. This is actually the part that failed. There are two heavy wire retainers that keep the throwout bearing connected to the fork. They broke. But since I have the damn thing out anyways I might as well replace everything.

The dirty trio sitting on the garage..conquered like a bitch :)

I had the flywheel turned since I was in there...it's best to do it when you're replacing everything else....nice and shiny.

New pressure plate and clutch disk installed.

Orginally I was going to stop at putting the pressure plate and clutch disk on since I was by myself...but my adrenaline was pumping so I said what the hell. I slid the trans and floor jack under the Jeep and bench pressed 3/4 of the trans onto the jack. I then pulled up the rest of the trans onto the jack. I jacked it up, eye balled the input shaft for alignment with the center of the pressure plate and disk and slide that son of bitch right into place. On the first ****ing stab!!!!! I couldn't believe it. Then I put all the bellhousing bolts in, slave cylinder on, crossmember and exhaust back on.

Put everything else back on and guess what....no problems! woohoo...I have my Jeep back. And I saved a ton of cash.
