Ive had adelphia cable for around eight months now... I play alot of online games and I never had a problem with pings ( was always 19 to 35). As of 3 weeks ago, out of no where my ping began to rise up to 160 staying that way from 7pm to 12:30am... I thought nothing of it, and the next day it was fine.... until 7pm exactly.. it shot right back up. So i called the ol'isp and they tell me nothing is wrong etc etc... next night again.. call them again.. basically they gave me another modem, blamed my hardware even though I have 3 different comps, only 1 hooked up, multiple cords etc etc... Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? It's been like this for 3 weeks and it's getting really old.. why all the sudden out of no where? Help! please!

Could be a faulty router some where along the line, not to mention the load on the network at those peak times. Adelphia is just like any other large ISP, their going to tell you nothing is wronge on their end but as we all know. It's mostly always at their end. hehe

Do some traceroutes to your normal game servers at those peak times when your pings are bad and during regular off-peak hours when things are good. Post your results. :) (screenshot or copy and paste)

Start>run>cmd
tracert SERVERIP/DOMAIN

I called them again, and the guy that helped me was actually pretty good. He said it was on their end with a hub that i run through up in Pennsylvannia is acting really weird during the times im having trouble. He couldn't explain it, he asked others around him, they couldn't explain it... he made me do a tracert to a server in upper NY. Could it be possible that they just overloaded my area w/customers and they can't handle it until they upgrade?

They most likely have too many customers on your node. The more people that complain the more likely Adelphia will do somthing to fix it, otherwise they won't do a thing.

a tech guy came out today to check it out, said everything was fine, and couldn't believe i had a 3meg speed during the day, and 705k at night. So he called his supervisor and they are gonna make a call to adelphia HQ.. hope they fix it, getting old =(
