I will do so just as soon as I get it installed. I had to put a CD-Rom into this computer. It didn't like me installing across the network :(
Should be up in just a few minutes I hope ... then the patches etc. Well, hopefully within an hour I can play ...

It needs to have CD in to play or you can install an ISO in a virtual drive. that will elliminate the need for cd in drive

Within an hour? **** maybe on an T-3 connection.
The total of the downloads you need to do in order to play on the SG server is about a gigabyte.

well I have the deluxe edition which has the road to rome also. Does anyone play that? It was only 10 bux more than the regular BF 1942 so I thought why not :D
Hopefully I will have a good day on the net for speed and be able to pull the files down quickly. I have DSL with a 1500 down stream. Maybe today it will be about 2x the normal speed :D
Well, I am on disk 3 now hopefully it won't be much longer ... maybe it will already have some of the updates included :D

As soon as they finish I will be ready to go.

very smart thing to do. I am sure I will do the same as I have been contemplating going ahead and putting XP on my last 2 machines. But then again. I amy not do it either ...

Sweet.:D I ws wondering when you'd get around to picking up a copy. Ditto on the back-up to CD. I do that with all the games I play. It takes the bite out of formating.;)

Yes. You need 1 of the disks in there. Doesn't matter which one. Disk 1 Disk 2 or the RtR disk.

Some peeps make a cd image of it and then mount the image as a virtual disk. That way they don't need to plop the CD in there everytime they want to play.

good idea ...
down to 45 minutes now and my speed has increased to 76.4 KB/S since the other files has completed ...

If you want to see who's playing on the SG server go here
http://bftracks.us/appl/bft/Live/server/65190
note sometimes it shows nobody as playing even though there may be people on the server. Don't know why but...

ok Installing patch 2 of 3.
I am just hoping that once I am done with this and I have configured my keyboard the way I will want it that I have someone available to help me through it all....
It looks like it can get a little hairy with all of the different commands and controls.
I used to play Counter-Strike so, I hope that some of the skills I had in that game can carry over and I don't make too much of an ass of myself :D
Hopefully I will see you all in a very short while on the server.
I will have the laptop on this thread for support :D

just hit my first glitch....
Sound ...
I had taken out my soundblaster card and plugged it into the media server for my home theater. I was using the onboard sound and man I got some choppy stuff there.
Luckily I had another digital sound card sitting on the shelf. So I just powered down and am coming back from the restart now ...
Should be on in a few minutes to configure and then to start playing ...

I seem to be having a problem configuring my keys etc. I dunno why but I keep getting a conflict somewhere. Can 2 screens not use the same keys?

I'm not going to be at work here for much longer but you are trying to change what to what?
I mean what command to what button?
lance-tek
01-19-04, 05:08 PM
pretty much everything
I tried to set all of the movements to the arrows but I kept getting an error somewhere. It kept saying I had a conflict.
I like to have all my movements close to one another no matter what I am doing
try changing 2 at a time, then save to see what is conflicting and then add a few more, there are alot of keys to set and it takes some trial and error to get it the way ya want.

ok I am getting there...
I have figured out how to change just a couple which is all I really need.
Now I am trying to figure out how to use a vehicle.
I can get it but, I can't seem to shoot or move ...
I didn't change any of the settings yet, so I am lost somwhere
I thought W was the one for move forward but I haven't gotten it to work yet ...

The arrow keys are used for something else. They are used to control planes, helo's in DC, subs, and other stuff. That's where the conflict is I just left my controls as WASD pretty much the FPS standard.

I know it is the same set up, but it is the layout of the keyboard that does it for me. I need to buy an ergonomical keyboard then I could probably do it that way...
thanks though,
