Well I returned to uni after the xmas holidays only to find what seems to be a load of throttled ports or something (as they aint capped and neither are they blocked .. just rather slow) ..

Anyhow what confuses me is that if i choose to dl say a demo off ftp.sunet.se and i paste the link to the .exe off IE ill get my full 10mbit download speeds .. if however i load the ftp into flashfxp and find the file and try to dl it I get really slow speeds like 0.2-2kb/s with timeouts ..

Can any1 shed some light about whats going on here .. whats been done or why the above happens? Thx :)

Ok so im now thinking that when i login to ftp.sunet.se with flashfxp i dont get the 10mbit dl speeds because I aint going thru the web cache proxy that is speeding up the dl thru IE? Does that seem right?

EDIT: Now ive had the chance to test this .. i know that it is indeed the web cache that speeds up the dls .. what I need to know is how i can dl files off an ftp w/o having to paste full links into internet explorer to make use of the web cache proxy as I cant seem to connect to it using http proxy with flashfxp :(
