Got a new modem

I had an RCA one that Comcast rents out. Today I turned it in for a Motorola Surfboard and I'm seeing an improvement in my connection. I assume that the RCA one was either not as good or was just going bad. New modems don't normaly effect ypur speed do they?

As stated before, not usually, however I have heard numerous stories people using the older RCAs and then upgrading to a newer Toshiba or equivalent and seeing their speed and stability increase.

It just the fact that the SB is a better cable modem.
