Hi,everyone,i have someting wrong with network.
There're 10 machine in my network environment, the pc1 is the host computer,it has two network card, one of it connects to a hub,the other connect to internet. The other computers connect to the hub to share pc1's internet. My problem is if pc1 shares its internet,it will run very very slow, the rate of the cpu use is almost 100%,if it not share,it runs very well. All of my machine's operate system is XP professional,I use the system's default internet share.

THANKS!

Spend the bucks and get a router you wont regret it that setup is probably the worse way to share.

Depending on your gateway computer specs, I would considering using one of your other machines. Preferably one that isn't used for CPU intensive tasks during peak internet usage.

But like mccoffee said a router will serve your needs better than using MS's ICS. Right now you can pick up a Linksys router for around $39 or $49.

Another free or inexpensive solution would be to setup a dedicated machine running SmoothWall. www.smoothwall.org If your up for it and are pretty experienced with networks I would recommend it. It's what I use, and you don't need a powerful machine for it either. I've tested it on a 486 and worked fine.
