LOW SPEEDS ON A CABLE MODEM 200kbps at most!!!???

:o I hate the fact that every other cable modem owner has more speed than me.. 200kbps isn't the 1.5mbps they say you get at adelphia. Can someone help me speeed up my surfboard 3100!!

Try power-cycling your cable modem, and BTW Adelphia Powerlink sucks badly!

Sounds like noise. Have Adelphia send out a truck to check the line.

They have been alot of outages with adelphia lately a couple compalin here about it.

The outages are due to system upgrading and expansion. It happens. It's a PITA but all companies go through it. As far as the 200kbs I'm pretty positive it's noise. Check all your cables are finger tight, don't over tighten. If it persists they will come out and scan for noise eminating from the wires. I get 2.5 Mbs down and 256 kbs up for data rates. They cap it at 3Mbs and 256kbs down and up respectively.

thanks for the replies guys! I did talk to a adelphia tech they said to try a speed test and it turned out fine. And they say the problem is other servers. Or web sites i goto. exe. fileplanet and so on.

In your thread topic you stated the best your modem was doing was 200 KBs. I took that as fact and I guess I should know better than to take these posts for what they say.

Thats what I download at from all sites or less sometimes even 80KBs my upload is at like 14kbs which is ridiculous. But what I did was call adelphia and they sent me to a dslreports.com to do a speed test. It downloaded at 1.5mb a sec but it doesn't make sense to me when it never downloads at that rate?????

I hated adelphis at first they were great then right whnen they got bankrupt is went all down hill. I would look for a new isp imho adelphia is just to unstable however i still can't belive my on buddy gets a 30 everytime with that comapny.
