For 2K & XP - Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need...ok first ill tell you i use internet explorer for online and i have a cable modem/intel nic device....so heres what protocols i have listed in my local area connection properties/client for microsoft networks/file and printer sharing for microsoft networks/QoS packet scheduler/internet protocol(tcp/ip) my question is can anyone of these be removed or do i need all of them?

If your connected directly to your Cable/DSL modem without a router all you really need is Client for Microsoft Networks and TCP/IP.

If you have a home network setup with network shares whether it's a printer or folder, just leave your current protocols.
