i am a new member here.
i sure hope you guys can help me as i havent been able to solve my problem yet. this is probably gonna take someone with some expertise so here goes

I think i have ur fix log into router 192.168.1.1 click on advanced have ur mtu enabled and block wan request disabled also if there is a spi feature disable that too some versions of firmware still has it.
It sounds like when you are downloading the ping is being sent out but not sent back with the ping being gone the other computer doesn't know if your computer is still there.

i sure wish that would have been it.
i have it set to wan disabled (it was set to enabled) and still have that same problem. maybe a new one now too i noticed like when i type in here just after i changed that setting that my text appears delayed when i type. hope it goes away. also i didnt see the spi thing but i know what your talking about ive seen it b4 in prev firmwares for this router. now i do have ipsec and wait ill just copy paste it

note: i disconnected my router all togather and still had this same problem.
have you watched that link i posted up there cause theyre are some other ppl trying to help with no success. that is the msg board where i play falcon4. pretty smart ppl but they are stumped.

What type of dsl modem you have also is ur linksys firmware up to date.

my linksys firmware is upto date but i did just upgrade my westell dsl modem
i didnt know i could go into my modem settings like a routers settings messing around now. after i did upgrade the firmware in the modem i noticed i couldnt get back on the net so i hooked up the router again and could get on that way. dloading some software for the modem called connection manager will see if that helps

Downloads use the IE cache, and if there isn't enough room, the file can't be downed in full.
Try setting IE cache to 300MB instead of 50.

you guys are great. ive used the tcp analyzer and tcp optimizer they are my friends :)
it definately acts like IE cache is set to low. but its set to 457 if where im looking at is correct. tools>internet options>settings
what is strange i can dload from this link here although it is an ftp and i have had the same problem with that 537 meg file from the netherlands server here

(cant dload) nice speed (150KB) till it hits 20.7meg
