win xp & index error

from time to time i am getting an error that says index error
it is not related to any spesific process or application.
please advice what does it mean. thanks

What are you doing when this comes up? Using a piece of image hardware or a program?

doesnt mater waht i do. i can open "my computer" and close it.
or open "my document" and close it. using "word".
there is no roll.

Then go to Start-->Run and type sfc /scannow and let it do it's business. That will replace and repair any missing or corrupt sys files.
