cs fps,lag problems

the system is a twin to what i have in my sig.

it's a ecs k7s5a rev 3.1 with 256mb pc133

radeon 8500le 128mn ddr with cats 3.8

80gig hdd with windows xp with sp1
direct x 9.0b

we have installed the newest bios for the board

and sound card is a sound blaster 5.1

all devices work correctly under the device manager.

i have also updated the agp drivers aswell.


now here's the problem

while playin in cs 1.6(not sure if this happens in 1.5)

we type
fps_max 300

developer 1

net_graph 3

he gets 30fps.. so i add 256mb pc133 to his system it locks up in windows while playin with video settins so i pull it..

back to 256 same brand as in my comp.

now he gets 40-50fps

but the weird thing is their is extreme mouse/keyboard lag..

the mouse is a ms optical mouse and key board isn't nothin to fancy.

if he types fps_max 20

he has no lag at all with either memory installed in the system

i thought at one time his video card went to crap
so i pulled it and installed it in another system

60-100fps no lag

i had also installed a older radeon 7200 with 32mb ddr that runs 60+fps in my system and same lag problem occuried.


im just about to the point where i formate his computer and install every upto date driver i can find..

does any one kno what might be the problem.. i kno i saw some stuff at the ecs website while lookin through bios about ps/2 stuff but he has a usb mouse i belive.


i am also considereing installin power strip and overclockin his card and memory to see if that helps.

well that may be the case but we dont have any other games to use to check for this problem.

well i have ran aquamark3 on both systems. mine and my brothers resulting in interesting results..

notice both cards run the same clock speed here. and are not over clocked..


here is the result after overclockin the cards with powerstrip

my card ran slightly better then his witht he higher oc while his slightly ran better at the normal clock speed..

but get this he was able to push another 30mhz out of his card b4 lockin up or any graphical errors.


i belive he has a ps/2 hang problem but i cant figure out how i would go about fixing this problem
