In order to drum up further excitement about the release of Illusion Softworks' Hidden & Dangerous 2 later this month, publisher Gathering has chosen to make the original Hidden & Dangerous available as a free download. The downloadable version has been dubbed Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe, as it not only includes the full version of the WW2 squad-based combat game, but also the Devil's Bridge expansion, all the required patches and updates, as well as the mission editor. The 264 MB download is available from 3D Gamers, Boomtown (registration required), Computer Games Online, FileFront, Filerush.com, Gamer's Hell, GameTab, Gigex, IGN, Loadedinc (registration required), and Worthplaying. Those without sufficient bandwidth for the large download can also get H&D Deluxe on a CD as a bonus for preordering H&D2 at EB, GameStop, or Best Buy.

Sounds like the title of a Vivid Video.

COOL! Been waiting for this game to come out for a while now. (H&D2) Is this one worth the download? Or just wait until H&D2 comes out, hehe. Thanks for posting the link Immy!

H&D was a decent game at the time, but it was also flawed, technically and otherwise. I wouldn't say it's a bad game or anything (especially now that it's free), but don't expect the world out of a game that was only decent many years ago. I hadn't really played the game since the initial boxed release, so I can't comment on how much the patches fix things up.

It's nice to see a company other than Nintendo actually realize that...hey, people like free crap, and the little resources it takes to re-release an old game as a bonus can definately help their sales of the new one.

Thanks Immy. I wonder why they make you install a file client though. I hate sites that make you install something before you download from them. There is no need for it unless they are up to something.
