Sometimes i like to go to my uncle's house for the weekend, and would like to know where i oculd go to fidn the best way to setup a VPN tunneling systems so i can login to my domain controller @ home, giving me access too all my network shares (movies, music, etc.)
I am running Windows 2003 server, having Cable internet, and a linksys Befsr41 router.
I think i did it once by "accident" toying aorund with Windows 2000 server...but i would like to make sure im doing it the right way. I remember the first time i did it, it was a bit slow connecting and browsing the folders...
Thanks for any help :)

This help? Haven't setup VPN on a home router since NT 4. Just needed to forward port 1723, and allow IP type 47 GRE to pass through for that.

Encryption creates overhead. What are the rated speeds for your and your uncles connections - both up and down.

Remember....the VPN tunnel will only be as fast as the slowest of the uplink between the two. One can only download as fast as the source can upload. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Here's another question...which i doubt it can be done..but its worth a shot.....
Uncle and me both have the same router...I was wondering..is there anyway that these two routers could somehow always maintain a i guess "tunnel" between both of them. What i was thinking was somehow cutting out the need for a windows server to have the VPN on...and just have the two routers establish a link between both our networks ...and have them like show up on network neighborhood or something.... The closest thing i can think of is using a static route or something?
Any ideas or is this just an impossible concept
