I`ve just discovered that Norton Ghost wont work in XP (or at least it won`t for me!) so does anyone know of or point me towards one that`ll work.....preferably free too!!:D :D

As far as I can tell it went fine. Can boot from the drive but it hangs at the "microsoft Windows XP" splash screen (the bit just before you click the user you wanna go in as) and it just stays there. I can`t repair with the XP disc as I`ve lforgotten my password:rolleyes: So I`m a bit stuck so far!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanx

Yeah, I`ve seen that one too Joey, but it won`t allow resizing of partitions (which I wanna do) 10GB upto a 60GB

Right, the story so far is...

Drive remains non-bootable (stalls at the MS WINXP Splash screen) no matter wot I use to copy/clone it.

used Norton Ghost - no go
used PQ Drive Image 7 - no go
used HDCopy ( ) - no go
used casper XP - no go (managed to resize the partition with PQ partition magic and that worked) but still stuck at the stalled MS WINXP splash screen just before where one would NORMALLY click on a user to continue to login.

Anyone help me outta this one?? I`ve never had so much trouble cloning a hard drive in my life!!

OH BTW i installed a new win xp on another HD i have (8GB) for the purpose of having the 'source drive' and the 'destination drive' completely 'redundant' for the purpose of the clone/copy which was when all the above listed attempts have been made;)

Anyone got any suggestions?

Really could do with not having to re-install if I can avoid it!

What version of Ghost were you trying?

Acronis True Image 6.0 (http://www.acronis.com/products/trueimage/)

BY FAR the best and easiest imaging app there is.

Thanx for all your help Guys (and Gals if there were any) but I`ve given up!

It just wouldn`t work, only thing I could think of was there was some file or other corrupt or missing which was causing it not to continue to boot fully.

I`ve formatted and re-installed and, so far, all is well.

Once again Guys and Gals, many thanx:D ;)
