This has never happened before until now. When I scroll in IE it lags bad. Especially if I go over pictures.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

OK, I need an answer to this too (could be a different issue though). Ever since I installed sp2, my scroll wheel (MX500) lags in IE. The first 2 "clicks" produce no movement, but the page finally moves on the 3rd one.

Disable smooth scrolling perhaps?

Yea tried that.

I have xp, my sister, dad, and I all have different user names/desktops. Theirs are fine, and mine started doing this. Its getting bad, as Im typing this, the text is showing up 5 seconds after I type it. Doh

Anyone know how to reinstall IE?

A laggy mouse is usually due to low resources. Have you scanned for spyware?
Worth checking.

Some spyware opens only when IE opens.

Norm, I just ran my updated adaware and Im clean.

On my sisters desktop with IE open sitting on a page, it takes up no cpu usage.

On mine, with the same page loaded, it takes up 20 cpu usage. :(

You could try spybot as well. It seems spybot catches a lot more than adaware these days.

Also, try closing out any other apps, one at a time, and see if the lag stops.

You can repair IE from add/remove programs. If you try to uninstall it, it will give you the option to repair, or revert back to an earlier version. Then, if you want, you can reinstall it. The install will be at MS update if you revert back to an earlier version.

I would go with the repair first..

What sound card are you using? Or is it onboard sound?

I do not see IE in add or remove programs. I see it in add or removie windows components, but it only allows me to remove icons from the desktop, no repair option ?

Also I the system idle process will be at 99%, all I have to do is scroll in IE, and IE starts hogging all the cpu.

What are the newest programs you've installed lately? Try uninstalling an proggies you've installed over the last week or so. Also look for Reg entries for those proggies you uninstall. Quicktime makes my gifs lag as well as any text I need to enter in my browser.

If you are using AC97 sound or any type of realtek. I would bet it's the problem. I had it happen to me many times on my spare comp. The driver from windows update cause's the exact same thing. Get the complete driver from Realtek.

Sounds Like a software issue. Seeings on your sister log in there is no problems. I would do as was suggested remove any new software you may have installed lately. Plus run a scandisk on your side for errors on the drive. Good luck!

I disabled smooth scrolling, but that just made it jerky. It still doesn't move the page until the 3rd click of the wheel. Spybot and Adaware found nothing. The Logitech mouseware has been reinstalled. As for installing programs, everything has been installed recently. :(

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Sorry for missing your post PãradØxDêit¥™, I do not have any of the type of cards you listed. I tried everything suggested here and nada. So I deleted my dekstop and created a new one (Everyone in my family has their own desktop). And that did the trick. It still bugs me that I could not figure out why IE was eating up all my memory.

Thanks again SG buddies! :D
