View Full Version : Are Dell Routers any good?
Dell has a deal where if you buy a wireless networking card then you can get a free wireless router. Im just wonderng if this router is worth it. Has anyone bought a router from Dell and has anything good to say about it? Bad Experiences?

Can't comment on the routers but the switches are a nightmare.
On paper, they are faster than anything else out there including Cisco, but they are a nightmare as they crash all they time. I'm sure as new firmware is released they will get better, but in my experience the gigbit switches are chocolate teapot material.
dell forums will give you more info about the routers. Are they actually made by dell or just sold by them???????

LOL. I've been watching to see if anyone's worked on their routeres. I'm thinking they're the Microsoft ones..based on the looks/shape of them, look similar in size, just horizonal instead of verticle. Highly doubt Dell makes them. They sell so many other brands (just look online, can choose from around 6 of the major labels)...I'm wondering why they bother remarketing their own label.
Oh well i ordered it and ill see how they are lol
Even if they do suck i think i got a good deal. Paid like 20 bucks more to get a 54 mb pci lan card and got the router free.

I have the Dell TrueMobile 1184 Wireless Broadband Router. I'd be happy to give any details from the label on it or the manual.
I don't know anything technical about it. I just got it, plugged it all in and it worked. :)
I am curious though, when I go to the web configuration page for it, the intruder log is always empty??
I did run a test when I first got it and all my ports were stealth except for two I think. They were closed so I'm assuming I'm pretty safe.
