View Full Version : "How to" MP3's
I recently downloaded two books that are in MP3 format and am trying to burn them to a disk so I can listen to then in the car. I'm fairly new to the MP3 thing, so can anyone tell me if there's a way to burn them so I can listen to them in the car ? They work fine in the computer.
Thanks !
You have to convert them to WAV. format
I use DB power amp (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/)
Convert them to wav. then use Nero or any other burring software and make a music cd. Should work unless your car cd player is Real old some older one's have problems playing burnt cds
Okee dokie, how do one go about that ? If I do, will they fit on a CD ? I tried something like that with EZ CD Creator, but they ened up being about a zillion MB's.......

what's a Zillion MBs?
a CD holds
650mb - 74mins
700mb - 80mins
also some burning progs like Nero for ex., will let you burn it straight from mp3 to a CD

Actually all you need to do is select to create an audio cd Drag and drop the files and Nero does the rest. Uncompresses them and everything.
After there unzipped into a directory in the mp3 format, the files total 697 MB. When I add them to EZ CD Creator to burn the disc, the files total 3576+ MB and don't allow me to burn them. If I understand correctly, I need to convert them to WAV files before putting on the disc. I thought mp3's were smaller than wav's ?
I tried the dbpower amp music converter but it will only convert music on CD's to a different format on your computer. (Unless I'm reading it incorrectly). ?

Sounds like this is such a huge mp3 that your going to need to split it up before you try burning...or convert to wav then split it up and burn...
Here's an mp3 splitter thats free...http://www.yaosoft.com/
Now you need to split it so that when you uncompress it for your CD..the file isn't any bigger than say....640 megs..to 650 megs...if that's the size of the CD your going to use...
Rule of thumb..50 megs for 5 minutes at 128 bitrate....Less for higher bitrates and more file space for smaller bitrates...
Breaking up the mp3 might be easier to do than explaining how to convert to wav and then you would just end up having to split it also...
It's not a huge mp3, it's a pile of them. It's the bible. All the different chapters and verses. I was hoping I could burn all the mp3's onto 2 CD's to listen to in the car.

If you know someone who has WinXP, you can drag the mp3 files into a cd write window using the WinXP cd burning prog, and when you click write to cd it will ask you if you want to burn it so that it can play in a regular cd player. If you have too many mp3's selected, it will only burn what will fit on the cd.
Extremely simple (I love XP!)
I was hoping that I could fit the old testament on one CD and the new on the other. I suppose there's no way to drop the bitrate way down to make them smaller eh ?

No, going from mp3 to Cd Audio (.wav) you're not going to get as much on a cd as you can with mp3's. It's too bad your cd player in your car does not play mp3's.
I work with this kind of stuff alot. If I run across anything, I'll keep you in mind.
PM me if you figure out something. God bless.

maybe you oculd burn htem on multiple CDs....
are you SURE that you've selected audio?
Yupper, I went audio. I think if I tried multiple CD's, I would need a library. I think what I'm going to do is look at a MP3 player that I can plug into a cassette deck in my car.
Thanks !
