For the last 4 days I've been busting my brain trouble shooting my bluetooth network.
Here's my setup.
I have a HP iPaq Pocket PC 1945 (http://www.shopping.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpdirect/shopping/scripts/product_detail/product_detail_view.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0628151902.1064446609@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccckadcjhgmhkkgcfngcfkmdfondfgf.0&product_code=FA163A%238ZP&cat_level=1&browse_link=true), a Kensington Pocket Hub (http://uk.kensingtoneurope.com/mobility_products/product.asp?subsection=23&id=1556) which is connected to my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. Specs for the laptop are as follows.
WinXp Pro, P4 2.2 ghz, 64mb GeForce4 440 go video with 512 DDR ram or just read my profile for a complete listing for specs.
Connected to the external hub is my Olympus 560Z digital camera, , USB adapter cable for the iPaq and a 512mb Verbatim jump drive. My Veo web cam is connected to the second USB internal port of my laptop.
On the the last port of the external pocket hub I have the AmbiCom Air2Net Bluetooth USB Wireless Adapter (http://www.ambicom.com/products/air2net/bt2000cusb.html). All devices are shown in the device manager with no conflicts.
Here's my problem. After loading the drivers that Ambicom provided on CD (the latest 2.0) I can't seem to find "Discovery Services" for the laptop via the ipaq. The Bluetooth Neighborhood shows both the ipaq and the laptop with ID's but when I try to open the laptop icon in windows explorer it crashes the program and from the ipaq it shows "Discovery Service Not Found" each and every time. I've checked and rechecked the configurations over and over again.
The strange thing is that I can send a file to my ipaq from the laptop via the file server-ware in the BT Manager but I can't see the network from the ipaq.
I've trouble shot here (http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/document.jhtml?lc=en&docName=c00030574&cc=us) and here (http://www.ambicom.com/support/troubleshooting/tsbt2000/tsbt2000cf_pda.htm) to no avail.
I'm feed up with it. I know I could just use the cradle or infrared to active sync or for file transfers but that defeats the whole wireless process deal. I want to be able to kick back in my hotel and not be confined to the laptop at the desk.
Any and I mean any help will be very appreciated.
TIA
Patrick
