OK - I have two instances of the exe running - seems to be ok.
I set one CPU to 100% and the other to idle - BIG difference in performance btwn the two.
Anyone else have any suggestions/thoughts/recommendations for duallies?

Do the same thing.
2 instances of client (which you did already)
Set different machine ID's (MAKE SURE YOU DO THAT)
Are you crunching the same protein?
If so the difference might be b/c you're using one of the CPU's.
:p

Different proteins.
Got the same machine IDs (= 1) take it that's bad?
The usage bit makes sense, but the difference is dramatic - and I am not running any apps on that box - just background services...
Hmm - explain the machine ID to me? or linkage?
EDIT: If i have several rigs, they each need a unique machine ID?
Thanks,
Skye

You need to set up 2 different machine ID's so when Stanford receive your results they won't think you cheated (or something to that extend). If both ID's are the same you will only receive 1 wu point instead of both. :(
You only need to set up different machine ID's when you're running multiple instances of f@h client on 1 machine. (Ie duallies, P4C type CPU with hyperthread enabled).
Hope this helps. :)

Crystal clear. Thanks again.

Currently Stanford allows for a pc to have up to 4 cpus.
To set it up on a duelie you need to say y to the question on changing advance options during setup. Then on that pc only set the first instance to 1 and the second instance to 2.
On other duelies or on the new P4C's you can do the same thing, first instance as 1 and second as 2.
Single cpu just accept all the defaults after you put in your user name and the team number.

This is true even if running a 'farm' with several boxes all under the same user/team name? I can just use machineID 1 for all the single cpu boxes?
Thansk,
