I'm not really sure where to start this off. Yesterday I go to do a search on google and I get a cannot find server error. So I try yahoo and then msn and the reuslts are the same. So I run SpyBot and it comes up with "google redirect 64.191.59.85". I use SpyBot to fix the problem but it does not. I have fully run AVG and TDS-3 looking for a virus or trojan and found nothing. Has anyone run into something like this? If you have, how did you fix it? TIA

Sometimes when I dialup, I get Can't find server error and have to re-dial to surf. Emails and updates still work though. This seemed to start when I installed Google Toolbar. Google tried to change my search pages and some other search properties, but using SpywareGuard I could undo most of the changes.

thanks for the info. I use freeserve which uses a dns proxy server, which bypasses the hosts file anyway. Even if 'select bypass for local addresses' it uses a transparent proxy & ignores the hosts file. If if try and block a site in the hosts file I can still go to it if after doing a flushdns. I use SpywareBlaster/Guard and Adware.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should have replied to let everyone know I figured it out. I had a bit of a brain cramp when looking at the info I received from SpyBot. It took me a while but I figured it was the host file. So I took a look at it and sure enough, everything pointed to one address. I just removed those addresses from the host file and all is fine now. All I need to know now is how it happened. I keep Windows and AVG as up to date as possible. I guess all is good, this isn't the worst virus I've had.:D
