When I see

WU Progress
395/500
(79 percent)

does that mean that I'm 79 percent done with 1 WU?

Also, my other box is quite slow and I have a big one to do

WU Progress
150/2500
(6 percent)

I know that I have 18 days to complete this one but there's no way it'll be done in 18 days, this other box is so slow. I understand that I'll get credit for work done, but I feel that I'm wasting computing power doing this one since it won't be completed and just reassigned to another computer when the expiration comes up. I recall reading that there's no way to avoid this, is this true? This lesser box is better for doing smaller jobs.

I've read the FAQ.

Yep that means you're 79% done.

Not sure about your 2nd question. :o

ghost, using the console, add the line -config to the shortcut then open it to get the setup screen again, answer yes to advanced options and when it asks if u prefer fah or gah, type g.

that should help u out.

That'll dump the current project? After I do as you instruct, then I'll be doing the G@H, not F@H, then I'll go to the console and select F@H for the next project so when I'm done with the G@H WU I'll get a F@H WU, is this correct?

Sorry for the confusion, I'm still learning all this.

(Also, I'm using v. 3.24 and I can get to the console without the -config switch.)

And thanks for the responses so far guys. ;)

Gromacs is a different "core" for folding@home. If you look at the log file right before it starts working it will say either Tinker or Gromacs.

or you can look in your folding directory and see which cores you have.

Fahcore_65.exe is the Tinker Core For Folding@home

Fahcore_78.exe is the Gromacs Core for Folding@home

and Fahcore_ca.exe is the core for Genome@home a completely different thing all to gether.

I looked at both boxes.....both have Gromacs cores. Okay. The advantage of this is......?

The Gromacs algorithms are much faster than Tinker.

I'm not 100% sure on how G@H works with the new client. My understanding is that if you select gah for client preference you will be running G@H instead of F@H. I believe the stats will then go on G@H, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm not sure what happens if you selected no preference though. :o
