Linksys made me change alot of my settings so here we go again.

1. Cable
2. Road Runner

TCP properties for IP = xxxxxxxxxxxx()
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 52 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 01011100

Precedence (priority) = 100 (flash override)
Delay = 1 (low delay)
Throughput = 1 (high throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 1 (low cost)

3. I am running windows ME
4. I am also behind a router
(Im still loading pages slow...with the Reg. Edit)

Thanks again

Your router settings do not effect your registry settings. Your settings are fine, why do you feel the need to start a new thread about the same problem? You never replied to your original thread.

:rolleyes:

where did I not relpy...im looking at it right now and I see my replys and your replys.

But if someone would be kind enough to help me out with my half duplex settings, that would be awsome

You never replied here (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125121).

As for your duplex mode...... as stated in my help & tips link "*Most all Cable Modems should be set to 10mb half duplex mode but DSL connections could be any depending on your equipment and ISP. If you are using a router then you should set your duplex mode to 100mb full duplex."

OK but you need to understand that there are multiple people here who help out and we read your thread and wonder if everything was corrected or not, I can only assume it was not since you posted again.

Your still not getting it are you?

How are your speeds now? Don't just say "good" or "bad", post a FTP speed test.

What settings are you actually using?

You do understand that 90% of your caps is your goal right?

Is your router firmware up to date?

What is the exact problem?

Have you scanned for spyware with Ad Aware & SpyBot?

Do you have ALL the Windows Updates?

Have you scanned for viruses?

Do you have the latest drivers for your NIC?

It seems that you assume we already know everything? We don't have any clue what you have done and have not done, this is why it is imperative to stick to one thread and answer questions directly and completely.

Yes I do get it, but I was assuming that you kinda knew what I had done seeing as how I have told you everything I had done since the begining.

but...I'll do it again:
yes my firmware is up to date

yes I have scanned for spyware with both

yes I have all the windows updates

yes I have scanned for viruses

no i dont have an updated driver for my NIC beacuse I cant find one

But you have responded in multiple threads and never finished any of the threads so I have no idea what you have actually done and not done and what has worked or not worked. Do you see where I'm coming from?

Is this a wireless or wired connection?

If you are using CableNut use the following settings:

BcastNameQueryCount - 1
BcastQueryTimeout - 100
BSDUrgent - 1
CacheTimeout - 600000
DefaultRecvWindow - 49640
DefaultTTL - 64
EnableDNS - 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindoSize - 49640
KeepAliveInterval - 500
KeepAliveTime - 14400000
Lanabase - 0
LocalCopyMade - 1
MaxConnections - 100
MaxConnectRetries - 5
MaxDataRetries - 64
NameTableSize - 255
NameSrvQueryTimeout - 100
PMTUBlackHoleDetect - 0
PMTUDiscovery - 1
RoutingBufSize - 146432
RoutingPackets - 100
SackOpts - 1
SessionKeepAlive - 7200
SessionTableSize - 255
Size/Small/Medium/Large - 3
Tcp1323Opts - 0
TcpTimedWaitDelay - 30
MaxDupAcks - 3
DefaultTOS - 240
IGMPLevel - 2
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server - 20
MaxConnectionsPerServer - 10

Once you put those settings in please run a tracert under a load (follow the directions here (http://dslnuts.com/ping.shtml).)Then post what your max latency was so that we can find your optimum RWIN.

09-17-03, 09:42 AM
yeah, i see where you are comming from.

The connection is wireless.
Those cableNut settings are for wME right?

mnosteele52
09-17-03, 09:49 AM
Yes they are for ME. Remember your caps are 2000/384 with RoadRunner, these settings are based on those caps and a latency or 200ms, yours could be a bit higher since it is wireless and we can adjust as needed, that is also likely the cause of your webpages loading slowly.

:cool:

sponger246
09-17-03, 09:53 AM
I ment to say the ME connection is wired, the XP connection is wireless but I will need help on that one too.

mnosteele52
09-17-03, 09:56 AM
OK what connection are you trying to tweak both? If so then please do as I suggested for both connections to find your max latency, it will likely be higher on the wireless connection and we can adjust as needed.

OK great, it looks like the maximum latency you have is about 150ms so use the following settings on the ME pc:

BcastNameQueryCount - 1
BcastQueryTimeout - 100
BSDUrgent - 1
CacheTimeout - 600000
DefaultRecvWindow - 37960
DefaultTTL - 64
EnableDNS - 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindoSize - 37960
KeepAliveInterval - 500
KeepAliveTime - 14400000
Lanabase - 0
LocalCopyMade - 1
MaxConnections - 100
MaxConnectRetries - 5
MaxDataRetries - 64
NameTableSize - 255
NameSrvQueryTimeout - 100
PMTUBlackHoleDetect - 0
PMTUDiscovery - 1
RoutingBufSize - 146432

And use these settings on your XP pc:

DefaultReceiveWindow = 256000
DefaultSendWindow = 49152
DisableAddressSharing = 1
InitialLargeBufferCount = 200
InitialMediumBufferCount = 480
InitialSmallBufferCount = 640

GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 37960
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000
SackOpts = 1
SynAttackProtect = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 0
TcpLogLevel = 1

well I found out the source of alot of my problems....after numerous hours on the phone with linksys and many settings changed and ipconfig comands, it comes down to the router being fried and it wasnt assigning addresses correctly. Hopefully I will have a new rouer in the next few weeks then I can tweak from there.
