You guys I know have already heard this before but I call the phone company and they blame the isp and the isp blames the phone company. Just looking for a third party opinion.
Was logging on at speeds of 49kbps-52kbps consistantly, then a couple of months ago, I started getting alot of fluxuation. Logging on at like 12kbps then disconnecting then logging on at 16kbps then I would log on at like 48kbps. Nothing consistant though. I know for a fact that the phone company has to guarantee data in my area at like 19.2kbps, I know that sucks but when you are not even hitting that there is a problem. I mean when logging on at such low speeds I will experience time outs. I try logging on at different times of the day and experience little change. Even have tried other isp's. The current isp doesn't offer support for V.92 so I updated the driver to V.90. Any suggestions you guys can give me. I have tried checking the phone(picking it up and pressing like 1 and listening for static, but the lines are fairly new). Any initialization strings I could try to force say a higher log on? I don't have any details of the specs of the two computers systems that share the dial-up connections, other than one is a Gateway OEM computer with a V.92 modem, and the other I built with a US Robotics 56K Data/Voice/Fax modem but not sure of the model.
Thank God my area has cable.
Thanks guys.
