before i began this tweaking i got consistent 3xxx/3xx speed readings now they fluctuate between that and below 1xxx/1xx readings?

also, i have smart pop-up killer installed, do i still need this since i now have spyblaster, spybot, adware, and zone alarm?

Your rwin is way way to high also unistall zone alarm that is what is slowing u down Download and install cablenut which is below me try the following assumming you are on 2k/xp. Use sygate instead of zone alarm you can get zygate here http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
