firewall settings

i have a problem where i cant open the settings dialogue box for win xp firewall it just shows a quick message "please wait" and never comes up iam on a 600k ntl cable modem with lan card this is really bugging me now so if anyone can help i would be gratefull!!! thanks

I am not using WinXP but I know from what I have heard their
firewall is nothing more than using a screen door
to stop a thief???
I would try something like
Outpost Firewall (http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost/) or Sygate Firewall (http://www.sygate.com/)
They are both very fine firewalls and I am very partail to Outpost myself(a great firewall)

After what I have heard about XP's firewall I would be looking for a better one..:D :D
