Here's a couple photos snapped of some of the remains from last years Hurricane impact.
Here's a tree on our property line, dead but propped up leaning in the fork of another.

Here's my favorite of a giant water oak, partially uprooted and leaning against his brother. Amazingly he has lasted the year and hopefully will re-root fully.

Another shot of the leaner.

And a picture at the base of the leaner.

Neighbors yard. That stuff in the middle was probably a 25-30 year old oak that was snapped off about midway up. When it went it took out the power lines on that side of the street.

These 2 mounds of shrubery and bushes hide all that remains of 2 GIANT oaks that were pummled to death by the storm.

The gap, where a large water oak fell to the south taking out the side of our neighbors house. The root ball was standing upright untill we had it ground down. It's height was about 8 feet tall, easily dwarfing any man.

This is all that remains of a giant Hickory that fell to the south taking out the back of our neighbors house. This tree was the LARGEST I had seen in the entire neighborhood. You can see even laying down it's about 6 ft high just on one side. Fortunately for us all the trees on our south property line fell towards our neighbor. Had the wind pushed from the other direction it would have been our house demolished not his.

I wish I had bought the digital camera to take pics of the devasttation when it was fresh. We took a direct impact from the eye-wall of a category 2 storm. Only about 10 miles west and 10 miles east devastation was almost non-existant. The occasional tree may have been down. But our area here looked like a bomb went off. Every other tree seemed to have fallen or been uprooted and we were without power over a week. Easily the longest in the area.
