Can't get online unless reboot with winxp??

My aunt's computer is using powerlink from adelphia. She had a HP and I provided her with a new HP that was a major upgrade.

With her old computer, she never had a problem getting line. Since I gave her this new one, it's a nightmare. She has to restart her computer and then she'll have access.

I've already checked and the winxp firewire is disabled, so it's not that.

ANY thoughts??

Goto startmenu run type cmd do a ipconfig/release wait a while and do a ipconfig/renew. What I thnk it is that modem has to get use to the new network cards mac address.

I have powerlink and I remember a similar problem. I think that you have to unplug the modem for a few minutes to clear it fully, then let it get the new address. But hey, call Adelphia and complain 'bout the modem they will either get it going or replace it. God knows they have enough practice.

I keep telling her to call adelphia, but she keeps saying that the problem only arose after I put the new computer in.

the ipconfig/release and renew might work, however the problem is ongoing. So, it'd be just as easy for her to just restart her computer.

How is she connecting her modem, USB or NIC? Is AOHELL installed in this pc?
