Hi all, I thought this might be a good topic to bring up.
I did a firmware update for my small and happy
"Network Everywhere" (made by lynksys) Router.
The firmware upgrade went o.k., but I found a new
"tab" that I culd select when I access the router thru my internet browser.
The new "function" is DDNS (Dynamic DNS) and it has two url links that you can sign up for 2 of those "pay" services, it has a place for your DDNS password and URL, and a button that you and enable/disable all of this function.
I also found out that some SMC Routers have this also.
Now, I have used "free" DDNS service's for my web site and ftp, because I have a dynamic I.P. with my ADSL I.S.P.
I kind of don't like the "advertising" aspect of all of this
But the big thing on my mind is, security? Isn't this a big security consern? Maybe you guys could share your opinions on this.
Thanks.
