Say gang, I have a Win 2k professional business laptop that I recently loaded Spy bot, Ad-Aware and Spyware Blaster to. The first search dumped over 100 pieces of spyware, etc. between them. Yet ever since then, I get the same 8 files everytime I run Ad-Aware. All are rated low risk but is there nothing I can do to scrub these bastards from my PC?
What are the 8 files referring to??
I haven't used Adaware for a while now but never had a problem after removing all that it listed.
Can you put up a screenprint of the Adaware list?

Croc they are most likely cookies from websites. I get the same 5 everytime I run mine. All cookies.
Trev
And if they are the same cookies each time, add them to your restricted sites security zone and you'll never see em again.

I left my laptop at the office this evening but it does refer to cookies I believe and they are always the same ones....I'll get a copy of the screen and add them here tomorrow AM.

The weird thing is I visit the same sites at home (or worse! :D ) but I never find anything anymore on my desktop via scans...
Find the address of the cookies and then add them to restricted sites using a wild card such as *.doubleclick.net etc. You won't see the cookies anymore but you can still see the sites.
Couldn't agree more. Go with what Blebs as said and add them into your Restricted Zone in IE.
Either that or get a cookie controller like CookieWall to manage them.
It's been a while since I have used SpyBot or AdAware. Must do a refresher.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking over them now and see that they are all tracking cookies and the category is Data Miner Some examples are:
@tribalfusion[1].txt
@mediaplex[1].txt
@doubleclick[2].txt
and so on...so in these cases I should go to my restricted sites tab and add:
*.tribalfusion.net
or something different?
Hi srbarnes4ever
Yes...
Do what blebs said in his response.

In the "sites" you add *.tribalfusion.com, *.tribalfusion.net and *.tribalfusion.txt and the same for the others.
By using .net, .com and .txt you cover all the bases so that the ads (which are .com or .net) are also restricted.
Cheers :rolleyes:
The 3 most common from SG after cleaning out CookieWall. :nod:

Personally, I dont mind most cookies. I don't have to type my username and PW everytime I come to this forum :).

To each his own ...I guess.
Seeing that I would rather type in my user name and password, I have a little program that not only stops the annoying popups, but clears the cache as soon as I exit IE.
Futhermore, my h/w firewall has content and URL filtering so those tribalfusion cookie ads are blocked at the router level..all I see is a blank space.....:D :D
I am on a crusade to block "popups" and "spam". The spam thing is another thread...:p
Just my .0000002 cents worth
