I've had DSL for atleast two years now. It took a while for PacBell to get DSL where I live and now it's not offered anymore to even my neighbors. Our connection speed isn't the greatest. Roughly ("Your current bandwidth is: 0.31 Mbps (310 kbps, 38 KBps).") and the upload is about a third of that. We have five static IP addresses but a few of us use one connected from a router. I have tried all the tweaks on this site for TCP/IP registry settings, but nothing noticed has gotten faster. Is there any other attempts I can make to speed my connection?

If you please read read1st and answer those questions we could figure it out. I need more info. :cool:

1. I tried the TCPOptimizer, but it didn't seem to help.

2. Windows XP Pro, the MSPatch will not work for my version of windows.

3.
SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

TCP properties for IP = *.*.*.* ()
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 54 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

4. DSL (no ppoe)

5. Pacific Bell - I believe the advertised speed was 384kbps, but that could have heard that somewhere else. I'm not sure on what it's supposed to be. My average is about 305 kbps.

6. The DSL box connects to a Firewall Router which has wireless options for connecting and can be configured. Then a hub is connected into that box and my wire runs about 240 ft. along the outside of my house to my room where it connects to another hub and then to my computer.

I tried a few of the other tweaks mentioned on your read1st post. Just for clarification it took me a minute to figure out what you meant by Read1st. For future use you should point it out better or link it. :rolleyes:

We have five static IPs.

I configured my registry with the settings you gave. I've noticed that some stuff runs a bit faster, but unknown if any connection speed has increased. Thanks for the help so far.

ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64 take this speed test let it download about halfway take kbs*8= hopefully close to 1500
