After having to do a reinstall of XP I have been constantly bombardied with this stupid Messenger Pop-Up. It has many url's that it directs you to, such as.. fightpopups.com, destroyads.com etc. etc. When going to one of their sites this is one of the paragraphs on the site,

Congratulations, you've been hit by the newest form of unwanted advertising, or spam. This message was sent to your computer through a built in feature that Microsoft included in your copy of Windows 2000, NT, or XP. These types of spam messages are worse than unwanted e-mail since you don't even need to have an e-mail account or web browser. If you are one of the millions of people who get unwanted messages like these everyday, there is hope.

Requested assist from MS but no answer from them as of yet. If this is included with xp which somehow doesn't seem likely in my opinion. The only way I have found to even slow it down is to close down msn messenger. Which i have no problem doing. Except everytime I check mail. msg starts back up and the cycle starts again. Tried many ad, spyware blockers dont seem to work on this one, any ideas, advise, comments would be appreciated

 This should be common knowledge by now. What's it been now, 2 years of repeating it every other day?

MS should have had it disabled as the default, and users that want to use it could have enabled it themselves. MS does some really dumb things.

Actually it's only recently (like last 6-8 months) been a problem AFAIK. But there have been many threads about the same thing.

To stop the god-forsaken most annoying thing on earth, use the Services tab.

Start, Control Panel, Administrative Services, Services

Go to Messenger, right click it, hit properties, then go to disabled. Voila! Restart, no more messenger. You can also use this to tweak your services to free up some extra ram!
