I was doing a restore to my windows and all of the sudden i get a blue screen saying something about a memory leak or something. My computer is brand new (bought everything July 1st). Now i cant do a system restore. It keeps saying that it was unable to complete the restore process. On a side note...how do you do a Win XP Pro system reformat? Please help. Thanks.

Sorry, can't help you with your original problem since I use Win2k, but I can tell you how to format... if it's not the system disk, you can do that by going to control panel-->administrative tools-->computer administration--> local disks (or something to the effect, dunno exactly and we have NT here at work...).
For system disk formatting, just put your WinXP CD into the drive and boot from it. There's a menu that will let you delete and create partitions. Just proceed to install XP, select the partition that you have it installed on, and it'll ask you whether you want to keep the existing file system or format.
Cheers,
Ronald
You had a memory dump. It happens rarely in XP, but it does happen. Just erase the memory.dmp file from the Widnows root dir and move on. It'll be okay. No need to reinstall.

It may nmot be what you did but rather a problem in what ever program was running. Memory dumps, as I understand, occur when a program tries to write to a memory location already allocated for another program

Yes thats true, but blue screen physical memory dumps also can point to hardware issues in many cases.
