Im from Boston Mass and im getting Comcast Cable, Should i worry?

Hey all. I currently have Verizon DSL as my ISP and i have been having some problems lately but now its gone. Everything is great again.
I ordered Comcast cable today but i have some friends from Cali that are pissed off at then because they are not getting the speed as they advertise. Should i worry about that too? If you live somewhere in Mass, could you please let me know how you service is? Because when i play multiplayer games and such, i ping around the low 40's and 30's and these friends from Cali with cable internet ping around 100's. Also my download and upload speeds are 735/135.

Some advice....don't kill off your DSL....let a few months go by and try your cable for a while. May seem like a waste of money, but only a couple of months overlapping....if you wish to go back...it'll be worth it.

:nod: I agree with Cat. If your pinging in the 30's to 40's and your download is where it should be, why quit dsl? Your pings will only be higher with cable. I mean they wont get any lower than with dsl. (probably higher) I have cable with a pretty good speed package 3mb dn / 384k up and my pings are between 40-60 on local servers. But im usually playing on the UK servers and im pinging 110-120 most of the time. But like Cat said, just dont give up on dsl quite yet. :)

What speeds are they not getting that they say are advertised? The company wide caps (right now) are 1800 down/256 up. Generally speaking, I see speeds on average between 1300 and 1500 on most XP based machines, and about half that on unoptimized 98/ME machines...

On all my computers at home, I get 1650-1750 down and 245-250 up. This is on Comcast HSI. Most servers I ping REALLY low to, I rarely ever see anything above 40.

The reason why my ping is so important is because im currently part of a UT2003 clan and we have 3 servers that are aways full and we are also on a F.A.L ladder.
Im back to pinging 30's and 40's again!!!
