I had some decent hopes for that game, but was pretty disappointed by it.

And since he has an XBOX, he could play KOTOR now (even though it's not a "computer" RPG)...

I'd rather buy for computer than xbox since the games are the same price and pc level of play is alike 10x higher.

How's morrowind on xbox? I just got it on pc and it seems a little dull to me...

Maybe it's because of all the reading and the huge map... *shrugs* hehe..

Morrowind for PC is borring unless you cheat and set your speed to max so you cut your running time down to like nothing...

for xbox.. its kinda a hastle to select items

if your into classic RPG's with D&D style with rolling, check out KOTOR for XBOX

i didnt like it personally, but you might

I liked, i guess it depends on the mood your in when you play it. Sometimes "traveling" can become a nuisance. I'd check half.com and pick it up if it was 15ish buckeroo's.

I tried it for pc when it first came out but don't remember anything.

I find Morrowind, even thought it has a crappy graphics engine (slow, as all other Bethesda games.... ) to be the best computer RPG ever. It has such complexity while remaining manageable like I have never seen before. Totally non-linear, except for the main story line that you don't HAVE to follow (recommended though, if only for the items you get, especially close to the end!!).

I can see why some say it's dull or boring, but once you understand how things work in the world of Morrowind, you can do so much to alter gameplay. Alchemy, for example, is extremely powerful. The higher you have that skill, the more magical properties of the ingredients you see. Just take two ingredients that have a common effect, mix them, and get a potion from it. Potions are cumulative.

Get
- some alchemy equipment (mortar & pestle, calcinator, etc.)
- ingredients for "fortify intelligence" potions, you need two out of these three, 100 each: ash yam - which you can buy at the Ghostgate fortress, bloat - which you can buy from the alchemist on the west hill in Balmora, or netch leather which you get from killing a netch
- some ingredients for some crucial potions, like restore health and restore magicka, as well as stuff like "fortify speed"

What you do with that stuff:
- go into your inventory, pick the mortar & pestle or other alchemy equipment and drop it on your portrait to use it
- select the two kinds of "fortify intelligence" ingredients you have, and you'll see the name of the potion changes automatically to created effect, "fortify intelligence"
- create a few potions, like 5
- stop creating potions, go back into your inventory, and drink the intelligence potions
- go out of your inventory to unpause the game for a second, then go back in.
- create a few more potions, and notice they are more potent.
- drink, and create more. Repeat until you run out of ingredients, and leave the last 5-10 potions for the next time you wanna mix.

The potions get more potent, because the quality of the potions depends on your alchemy level, your intelligence, the quality of your equipment, the quality of the ingredients, etc. Since the potions are cumulative and the game is paused while you're creating more potions, you can get to insane INT levels. Last time I created potions I first boosted my INT to above 30,000!!! Now, for example the last 10 intelligence potions, which I left over to jump start the next round of potion creation, give me ~800 INT each, for 5600 some seconds! Your health potions will have a similarly strong effect, and if you create a "fortify speed" or "levitation" potion with such high INT, DAMN you'll travel almost as fast as the silt striders, hehe!!!

If you got some extra stuff, mix it up while you're you're Einstein^100, they'll be worth TONS of money. In Caldera there is a mansion (something with G, an orcish name) with a scamp upstairs. That scamp buys things at face value and has 5000 gold. After you sold stuff for 5000 value, rest for 24h and he'll have 5000 more gold you can grab from him. Or do your item enchanting while you're at it, since enchanting has INT as governing attribute as well. Since your Magicka=INT, use those 30,000 mana to cast spells and gain xp for those skills as well!

Also, if you're too slow, then either your speed attribute is low or you are carrying too much - the closer you get to your weight limit, the slower you are! You can use crates, for example those nice stacks in Balmore in front of the mage and fighter's guild, to store your goods. Nobody will steal them. Take only what you need with you, and you can easily travel twice as fast.

Look at your skills, they have a governing attribute. That attribute DOES have a big impact on the success of the skill, and understand how to create potions. Search on google for "Morrowind alchemy recipies" and have fun.

Okay, back to being the Nerevarine... :D

edit: and DON'T STEAL SOULSTONES!!! It's not worth it! Create your own!

I love it when your annoyed cuz your in the middle of nowhere. You see some out of the way farm house. hmmm. You go inside and slash him and loot his 10 gold pieces. You feel so much better. :)

I joined about every guild and just worked my way through them acquiring new skills as I went along. I haven't played it for a while but the little voice inside by head tells me more playing is yet to come.

It's $20 for xbox right now if you have one.

The thing is.. I'm playing morrowind as a knight.. I joined the fighters guild and the imperial guards..

I don't learn alchemy because i'm a swordsman.. I use mostly swrods, block, heavy armor, lock pick, sneak, agility.. and so forht.. u know the stuff knights use..

I also get my armor or weapons enchanted so I can heal myself or have special properties..

I'll just keep playing for now.. the quests are fun.. I don't even know they have a main plot line.. I just wander around doing chores or quests...

Immy, it doesn't matter if your alchemy skill is low, like 5. Just buy double the int ingredients, and you'll gain a few levels in alchemy while you mix all those potions. Once your INT is a bit higher (say, 500...), every potion will work... if basically none will turn into a usable potion, get some gold for someone to train your alchemy skill to 25 or so.

Just try it ;)

Also...If you want medium armor pays off really big in the middle of the game with that gold stuff. I forget what it's called. You get it at the big city.

And LOCKPICK!!!! I joined the warriors guild, imperial guild, and thievery guild.

Hell, you guys got me interested again! Im gonna keep playing when I get back!

I played Morrowind on PC.. loved it, just as I did with the other Elder Scrolls games: Arena & Daggerfall. After beating Morrowind I stopped playing.

Has anyone tried out the expansion packs? How are they? Are they worth it?

I don't want more space. That bloody island is big enough!

How do I frequently find myself in the middle of nowhere?

Anywho, I'm at the part where you go find the dude in the way up north, that dusty place. I use a claymore. Um...I use lockpicking and that skill is getting high. I haven't work with any magery or alchemy but I plan to. All in all my character kicks some good ass. When I need money I go to Balmora (I think that's the city) and just kill a guard with fancy armor and sell it. They are almost out of them.

Do the shop keepers get money back when they run out? I have saved the balmora shop keepers except for the one with the pawn broker and the guard, I killed both of them and looted everything. If they don't get money back Ill just commit genecide!

Told ya alchemy rules :D

I'm trough with Tribunal, gonna try Bloodmoon tomorrow...

Tribunal is... ok. Unpatched you have to use cheats because the main quest is buggy. Should be okay though if you have bloodmoon and the BM patch installed, so I read. There's some neat stuff in the expansion, but somehow the story doesn't feel like it's happening after you beat the original game. Nobody seems to give a damn that you're a big hero.

One thing sucks for Tribunal, it doesn't have a global automap. Somewhat understandable since it's happening on two levels (upper city & sewers) though.

I think there's an item in BM that acts as reusable soul stone, Azura's something I belive. It's supposed to return empty into your inventory after using its soul to enchant/recharge an item, and it has an even greater soul capacity than the grand soul stone. That would be NEAT to have. Infinite recharging of my Daedric Longsword +75 fire dmg / hit....... :D

damn, i am trying this. morrowind has no stat or skill cap does it? It's just that the skills attributing stat must be higher than the given skill.

If you guys understand UO terms *crosses fingers*
