I have decided to take my machines offline. I will be leaving one up and running 24/7 for folding but I am not sure what points I will be getting from it. Obviously I cannot compete with theses new "superteams" and don't feel that I should have to.
I have not been invited to join a team and I am not capable of getting much higher on my own. So, I am tossing in the towell. Best of luck to all and I hope that SG will continue to thrive.
Cypher, it's all yours man............. no more competition from me for position. Best of luck man I hope you do make it to the top 10.

You do realize that when Ken sees this, your post count will go to 0? :D
Eh...none of the mini-teams have enough resources to ask EVERY SG member to join them.
Pick one (I hear The Fallen Angels are looking for a new member ;)) and join up! :)
Lance, everyone has an invitation to join either team. It does not matter which one as it is all still for a great cause.
The teams thing just added some fun back into it, we really hate to see you stop foldin guy, wish you would change your mind on this

Dang..I was hoping this wouldn't happen......
lance.....if you don't feel like you would even like to join a team..you certianly don't have too....
I've been folding on my own for sometime now. For me, and I do stress for me, it's not for the points. It's for being a part of something that much larger than anything I could possibly ever do in my own life. And if you look at it this way.....that's exactly what it is. Your contributions, if it's one fold a week or 100 folds a week are ALL important. None is less than the other.
If you or anyone have any doubt of that....take one stroll through a childrens ward of your local Cancer Treatment Center.....:)
As for the sub teams.......It's all in good fun and not intended to rub anyone the wrong way.....or to disthrone anyone with larger point counts...Please, anyone that feels different, reread my post. :)

Moving this to the Teams Forum as per Lance's request.

I still have one of my computers just folding for me.
lance, it is not all about the points, that just makes it entertaining and makes sure people are sending back results for the bigger picture.
the main reason i joined a sub-team was so i didn't have to watch my points so close, and get back to the real reason we fold, find a cure for some nasty diseases.
i kinda suspected that a few people would take the whole sub-team idea the wrong way.
Whatchu talkin 'bout lance? I invited you to come on my team, but you wanted to fly solo :( The invitation is still there ;)
C'mon back, don't leave me!

Oh guys, I was just BSing all of you. I know there were invites like mad to join teams.
On another note, I am not quiting folding. I am quiting folding as "lance". I have actually decided that the competition to get into the top 10 was extreemly tough for both Cypher and I. So, I made a decision to create an alliance with Cypher. I am not putting all of my PCs to work for Cypher. He probably had the best shot at making the top 10 of the two of us. I figure with the current lead we both have on the new teams. We just might hit the top 10 working together. With his new rigs coming online and my current farm as well as the couple of new additions I have, we just might be able to hold off the competition long enough to get cypher_138 into the top 10.
This is why I said at the end of my post "

It was just an inuendo of what was coming. Ron PMed me in response to the mixed emotions that were given in the replies to my original post.
As you may have noticed, I have had my username at SG changed also. It now reflects the name of my website. I hope to actually take some time to get cracking on it.
FOLD ON!!!!

well Ron, the first WU has already been sent in it was one of em on here, from machine #5 I think.
#4 is getting maintenance right now, but it is not big loss anyway. I lost the WU that it had (it was at 98% then the machine started freezing) so it will take it a matter of days to finish the next one. I also have my laptop and a couple more rigs that are displayed here. So you should see a nice little boost in tomorrows stats.

I hope over the weekend to actually get my machines to upload directly to my webpage as far as the stats go. If you like I can shoot a little somthing your way to do the same. Heck I could even give a sub-domain to our folding efforts. Been pondering doing that with folding anyway.

Yeah I got a PM from Lance saying he was adding some machines under my user name and I had 5 minutes to dispute. I liked the idea of an allience with a common goal.:D Besides I have too many clients scattered about to reconfig. So from here on out Cypher_138 reflects the combined efforts of Lance, Bump and myself on the stats.

I have never just quit anything in my life. I am not about to start now. But I thought it would be a good attention getter to put the info out that way.
I had hoped that perhaps with cyPHer_138 and I combined we may even get a few to hop on the bandwagon that has been started.
Standing Offer!!!! Even to you mister "Latin Thunder"we don't care if you put out 10 points a week or 10,000 points a week. Just as long as you're putting in for first and foremost SG, then for cypher_138 <------------kick ass folding team!!!!

It's more of an alliance than a team. Bump pretty much began to loose intrest due a project he's working on. Lance and I merged to form a single folder. Look at it this way when you resume folding as YoS we'll more than likely be holding your spot. I told you I'd be comming sooner than you thought.:p

It is disheartening as an individual to be running many machines at some expense to be overtaken by a pack. This is not about singular glory, in that I fold on.
Bring it on.....

I truely am glad to see that you have all of your rigs back online. I was pondering, would you like to become part of one of the greatest alliances of the century? Ron and I have decied to combine our efforts just for fun. I wonder if you would be so inclined to join us in the quest to FOLD and FOLD and FOLD. I know you already fold so, I am content with that. Just thought I would extend the hand of invitation to you.

In fact I did, however not all were behind the "protected" outlets. That will not happen again.

I do appreciate the invite. I have been folding for a year as Hell_Yes. I am content with my current state, though joining forces with you and cypher would certainly be appealing.

I'm honestly flattered that you would consider teaming up with us.:D Getting a suitable UPS just went up to the top of my prioritys. I currently have a 350va one that is'nt even capable of conditioning the power of my main rig. I'll need a 1200VA one at the least.

lmao, of course you are David, I just looked and you are ranked #7 for SG. I would be content with that too if I were you. When we start knocking on your door and you wanna go with the old saying " If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" the offer will still stand.

It is not the points as much as the actual work units. Points are what effect rank, however they take in account for the speed in which a candidate churns out units, not the true work accomplished. Take a look how many WU's btracy and emobley have done. By working as a subgroup, more points will be generated than as individuals, but not more work units.
shant,
david
