View Full Version : Question about Folding
I've been to the site
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/
and it sounds very intresting but I am wondering...do you people that fold have to do any work? or do you just run the program?
Like what exactly do you guys do when you fold?

Hello, a fellow Canuck! :D
Most of us don't have the time to keep an eye on the client all the time. The idea of F@H is to use idle computers to fold. So basically once you have the client set up you don't need to do any work. The setup takes like less than a minute, the toughest part being picking a name (I recommend Spankin_Barbaric_Beavers ;) :p :D ). Once the client is set up you're ready to rock'n roll! :)

Certainly welcome at Fat Dogs too:)
Let us know if you have any questions.
How do you join a SG team?
I'll d/l the program tomorrow when I get home from work cause it does sound very intresting.
basically whenever you install it you configure it (the Scrensaver)
the console version the first time it is run will go into config automatcially..
it will ask you for a name put whatever you like..
(though Fat Dogs would be preffered) :D
then the team number is 15 (SG)
So everyone that is a member of Fat Dogs put the screen name Fat Dogs or Fat Dogs - Bala ( for example )
I'm D/l it now. :D
What is the team number?

Team number is 15
Welcome aboard !
I put my user name as *Cho Tanenashi* so should I changed it to just Fat dogs? I saw on a thread that if you have the same name as another person they get the credit...so is that why everyone on the team is called Fat dogs?
I'm sorta dense you guys may regret welcoming aboard :D.

Basically there are Sub Teams of the Bigger SpeedGuide team. I used to fold under the name Damage_Inc. But just recently I joined one of the Sub Teams called The Executioners
Basically you have 2 large Sub Teams
Fat Dogs
The Executioners
and a couple smaller teams
The Fallen Angels
and a few others
This whole sub teams Idea only recently kicked into gear most of the time it was just people folding under their own name.

Yes, you should change it to Fat Dogs:nod:
Heh.
You can enter any user name you like, or none at all, as long as you have team 15 entered (which insures the points go to SG).
As for sub-teams, you are free to choose one or to use your own name. Most of us folded under our own name until just recently and have now combined our individual points under team names, but all these points are still credited to SG.
Current Dogs are listed in my sig. You are more then welcome to join us and we damn straight encourage it:D
Well I have changed my name to Fat Dogs and the team number is 15.
thanks for putting up with me :D

Welcome to the world of folding.
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/
If you are interested in finding out more click on the above link and it will allow you to move to other pages that will explain what it's all about. Some of it is quite involved but most has been tried to come down to mine and your levels of understanding.
Beware, however, folding can become very addictive.

just another option here..................
Although there are many smaller teams and alliances forming that are really recruiting there is also cypher_138 this is an alliance of some pretty heavy folders (3 of us) that have just recently combined our efforts in order to beat the snot out of the rest of the sub-teams.
Feel free to look into joining us. We would gladly welcome you.
