Hey everybody...first post here.

Ive done a few tweaks here and there using some default settings with cablenut and the sg optimizer but thought maybe the experts could help more:D

Not sure of my caps either. Im using armstrong zoom internet. Cable modem is a 3com cmx going through a linksys router model befsr41.

Here are my results...

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 57 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 01011100

Precedence (priority) = 100 (flash override)
Delay = 1 (low delay)
Throughput = 1 (high throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 1 (low cost)

Thanks for any help in advance!

Also do you have static ips on the computer or do you have the router assign ip automatically. What windows version you are running.

Im unsure of the caps...I'll have to try and research those a little more. The router assigns the IPs automatically. Im using Windows XP Pro.

Ok i went to company website big help so whe i need you to is take three speedtest goto the link and look for speakeasy test site selcet the closet one to you take 3 and write back with resaults.

Ok this is how make static ips I highly suggest you do that to keep speed stable and alos more secure thease steps below and the links below should help you do that. Any questions feel free to ask I say do this b4 we apply any more tweaks. The one link will show you how to add a metric i noticed a big improvement after i did my static ips.

1. Double click on My Computer located on either the Desktop or the Start Menu
2. Double click on the Control Panel icon
3. Please double click on Network Connections or Network and Dial up connections.
4. Select the Local Area Connection that controls your Network Card (Usually the first listed) and Double click it.
5. When "Local Area Connection Status" opens click Properties
6. Select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
7. Make note of the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway
8. Now make note of the Primary DNS Server and Alternate DNS Server
9. Now change the option from Use the following to Obtain an IP address

also if you are on xp add the metric while doing the static ips http://broadbandnuts.com/yabbse/ind...ay;threadid=933

Thanks for the help so far mccoffee.

I did the three tests..here are my results...

1st - DL 580 kbps UL 241 kbps
2nd - DL 580 kbps UL 238 kbps
3rd - DL 556 kbps UL 236 kbps

When i went to check out my IPs it was already set to Obtain Automatically, and the link to the metric thread didnt work:p

Edit: Doh!...Nevermind...gotta do the static IP address over again....

Applied the settings. Speeds arent any faster, but they do seem alot more stable. They used to vary alot. I think my ISP just blows:D Thanks for all your help mccoffee!
