Is there a certain Website that offers the most comprehensive and easy to find list of PC Requirements for a game that has yet to be released ?

Ok, here's my serious post on DNF here (even if it is slightly off-topic). One of the reasons that people believed DNF was delayed (one of many times) was due to Half-Life. HL changed the rules of FPS games, and what we expect of them. They may not have been the first to use scripted events and such, but they were the first to do so as well as they did. Many games were delayed because of Half-Life so changes could be made to make them "better," or at the very least, more like HL (afterall, it's always easier to copy the best than create something original). Now that HL2 has already beaten the mighty Doom III as the most drool-inducing FPS in the minds of most gamers, I can't see anything BUT a revolutionary Duke Nukem game even being worth people's attention.

"More of the same" would've been great for Duke Nukem Forever when it was first planned, and even after the switch to the Unreal engine, things might've gone very well for 3DRealms. But at this point, I can't expect anything more than what Daikatana was when it released.

I sure hope that's true... ohh that'll be so much fun...

Although I'll still want an amazing dnf.. but I doubt anything could rival hl2. If it does, then I'll eat a lightbulb.

I have never been a big fan of the PC version of the Madden Series games. Then again I am a veteran of the Madden '98 for the PC. God Tecmo Bowl looked better and played better than that. I swore to god that I wouldn't ever buy Madden for the PC again and I haven't. I believe it has to do with the way the game is coded. It's coded for the Consoles first I believe the PS2 is pretty much what they have gone by. PS1 before that. Then they port it over to the other consoles. EA had an exclusive contract with Sony that they would release the PS version of Madden several Weeks before the other versions were released.

The NHL series is a different story. It is coded for the PC first then ported over. NHL is about 100x better on the PC than on any console.

Somehow, the nhl series lately on pc is pretty darn bad. At least to me anways. It felt too arcadey and also too different. I remember nhl2001, that was good solid fun.

Am I the only moron that hasn't played Half life ???

As far as the console verses PC ... I've always been a PS2 Console junkie , I have always prefered that over Pc ...But I want to try some of the new PC Games that are coming out soon ... I hope P of P is just as good on PC ( if not better) as it is on PS2.

I played it just last year for the first time. By then, I was spoiled on better graphics and found the game boring and ugly to look at. But Half-Life 2...whoa.......

I agree on the console bit, but only for certain games. Sports games, RPGs like the Final Fantasy series...IMHO they are only good on consoles. FPS games are the PC's domain without a doubt. I like to get away from the PC once in a while, and a console aids in that.

FFVII ran better on the PC, with better graphics (even better than the PS2-improved ones) and better music (assuming you had half-decent MIDI capabilities on your sound card). FMVs were more compressed, but ran at a full 30fps instead of the 15fps on the PSX.

FFVII had the improved graphics as well, in addition to some very nice looking FMVs (again, compared to the PSX). I believe whatever graphical glitches that affected certain cards (GeForce ones I believe) was rectified.

Both are definately superior to their PSX counterparts for those reasons, but both also came out quite a bit later on the PC (ie, most of the people who wanted it already beat it on their PSX a year before), which probably explains the lackluster sales. From what I've played of FFXI, if I do get it (haven't decided on it), it'll definately be for the PC instead of the PS2.

I meant consoles mainly for ease of play. I find FF type games on the PC unwieldy to play.

But that cardboard cutout that fits over the number-pad worked so well! :p

Controls are one area where they obviously spent little or no time changing or optimizing the controls for the PC. The best bet is to use a gamepad.

Oh, and if you hadn't heard Burke, FFIII is rumored to be coming to the PSX sometime in the future. That'll make every main FF game playable on a PS2...

I agree with that until last year. Madden 2k3 is just flat out intense on the PC and the 2k4 demo is the shiznit. Madden 2002 and versions before were horrible on the PC though. I played the hell out of it but it was still very bad compared to the PS version. I think what sucked big time in regards to 2k2 at least was bad compatiblily with Radeon cards before the first patch. That had everyones junk in a twist. You couldn't even turn on weather with out hard locking or chrashing back to the desktop. The big reason though I played on the PC was of course online game play. It seems better on the PS now though....
