I am back tweaking and need some expert advice on setting Page File size for optimum performance based on my computer configuration (see below).

I have one Hard Drive that has Primary partition where my OS is located (C:), then I have a Logical drive partition (F:) both on this one Hard Drive. I have 23 gig free space on C: and 1.8 gig free space on F:

I keep all my music and games on F: but I have heard it is better to have the Page File located on a partition other than where the OS is located and where I am usually not working out of. I can't create a new partition I don't believe (don't have partition magic) so would it be wise/advisable to transfer 8 gigs of music/game files from F: to C: and move my Page File from C: to F:??? (this is because I don't have a dedicated partition available for a page file)

2) What Page File size do you recommend given my RAM and Hard Drive space? It is set to 503 minimum and 1512 maximum. I mainly surf the web, listen to music, microsoft office, burn cd occasionally, play games in a blue moon, and of course print documents, and TWEAK too darn much.

Thanks a million!!!
Judeye

Mccoffee..

The link was useful but did not answer my question. The Page File section mentions setting Page File sizes if you have 256MB of RAM to 256MB but warns against memory dumping if computer crashes. No mention of Minimum and Maximum and 512MB.

I would like to know page file Minimum and Maximum recommendations for 512MB RAM (see first post above for computer config.). Anyone know??

I changed my size 512 MIN and 512MAX.....my page file ended up in two fragments when I analyzed after defragging....is this common or coincidence?

Defrag your pagefile with Sysinternal's PageDefrag (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pagedefrag.shtml).
