If your set on using a web based account use Yahoo. They do a MUCH better job with unsolicited mail. Also never put your main email addy in forms or when you sign up for things except when absolutely necessary. Use a junk drop like a hotmail account:D

i've had hotmail for a loooong time.. barely get spam... make sure that your email isn't too close to your name... i have spam filter on... everytime i make a new email, i just select every email i get and block domain name... works well.... i still occasitionally get one or two spam letters
The best method is to only allow email messages from people on your contact list. If they aren't on the contact list the message get's deleted. That's what I have my hotmail account set as.

agentbeast is right, only allowing mail from senders on your contact list is the only way to block 100% of the spam mail. Even the best spam blocking software (depends on who you talk to) only blocks at 85-90%, so says PC World.
What I do is use a junk account (Hotmail ect.) on all forms except for sites I trust. On those I use my regular mail box. :)

NEVER UNSUBSCRIBE!!!!!!!!!
Unsubscribing only serves to validate your email address as active. The sender has no idea if your email address is valid or not UNLESS you are viewing HTML email or if your unsuscribe, in which case you will then get MORE spam.

Also......
Use one of them web based emails accounts for your spam hole...As in...when various web sites want an email account. And...if you visit and post in newsgroups..use a spambot address...
As in..

Once your email address in on a spam list....it's over with...They all get shared or lists bought.
Freemail = spam. Always has, and always will. Dem's da breakz.
