What do you use for your audio Editing? Or do you at all I guess. I have some Audio Clips I want to edit. Splice some together and Cut some off of others. What program could I do this with? Are there any free or shareware programs to do this with? I hate to spend money :p

Thanks

Humm..not sure about free one's. There should have been a wav editor that came with your soundcard....possibly?

Other than that...I use Cool Edit...

How are the recent versions of it? The last time I bought it was quite a few years ago, and I think it's one of the earlier versions.

It's still good enough that I use it for any audio editing that I need, but I could probably use the more advanced features in the new versions.

The new versions mostly have a lot more file ext you can use...as well as more control..as in fades ect ect..not a whole lot that most would use over earlier versions....

The plugin's are the same though...

I upgraded to pro as I can do 5.1 with it now. :D

Not that I have..but I found that it was one cool feature I just had to have........now if I could only justify the cost.......

well, it doesn't have to be free I guess. I am just not looking to spend 300 bux on software as it is something I will do once in a blue moon.

If your soundcard doesn't have a Wav editor..(most do) then there's the windows version but it's limited..

Cool Edit is around 60 bucks..and you can try it out for nothing but your limited when how many actions you can do..

Sound Forge XP Studio..not as expensive as SoundForge..

well I guess I would have to convert from .mp3 to .wav first. I know I have something that came with my Soundcard but dang, I have had it for years and dunno where the software for it is now. I also had something come with my ASUS mobo that prolly would have worked. But it is gone now too. I just want to take a few cuts from a few songs and kinda mix em together for a little vid I am putting together for my fiancee. Thought it would be a little something that she would like.

Cool Edit Pro is awesome, but I still prefer Sound Forge 6. Has tons of plugins including a 5.1 used for DVD authoring.

CoolEditPro has 5.1 included now.......:) Sound Forge does have a ton of plugins...including 3rd party....

Man I forgot that Nero had a wav editor..

If your just going to chop up parts of an mp3...I believe Mp3Trim will do what you need without conversion to wav..No fades..

They now have 5.1 abilities built in? I have still done things the old fashioned way, with a seperate for each channel (edited somewhat seperately), which is combined into one by an AC-3 converter.

I'm sure I'd have to buy the whole package again, as I'm probably a couple versions behind the newest.

For what you say you want to do, try Audacity, a great FREE editor. I've used it for a long time to clip and splice fragments for cheerleading teams, and to trim off silence or noise from MP3 files.

Get it at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
