Hello,

I recently upgraded to windows 2000 and when installing Xerox WorkCentre i encountered some problems. First off Windows 2k could not recognize the drivers so i had to manually add the drivers. After some time i managed to get drivers installed. The only thing thats wrong is that in my Hardware manager its identified in the category "?" instead of printers. I tested a print and it didnt work. I found out that i chose LPT1 port when i was using my usb port to print. So i just changed the port to be USB and i can print. But now when i try to scan i always get the error "This port is being used" , "Cannot Open twain Source, Is your scanner connected to the computer properly?" Could anyone please give me any ideas on how to rectify this siutation?

Thank you ;)

I'd fully uninstall it, find out if it's supported in Win2K, if so...download the latest drivers, and freshly install it.

Is this a WorkCenter 250 by chance? They aren't supported anymore.

What OS are you upgrading from?

HMM that could be the problem, upgrades are nothing but problems:(. I would suggest backing everything up and doing a fresh install, even if it's not causing your current problem it will cause problems in the future.

Absolutely fresh install. Especially since 'upgrade' was from home to business OS. Not really an upgrade and not handled well by installer at all from what I've read/heard.

Im real tired of fresh installing. I spent last saturday doing that for about 12 hours and having my programs not working. Im not willing to do it again. I really appreciate your help though.

My reasoning for not doing it is probably because when i upgraded i had nothing on my computer. The only thing i had installed were my video card drivers. So technically all my devices (printer as well) were installed fresh.

My mind cant take another fresh install and i dont want to bust out tons of CDs to get install my programs again x_x.

Thank you again everyone.

Its not that big of a deal really. I dont scan alot of things and as long as im able to print im okay. I just plan to buy a scanner to solve this problem. (my printer = all purpose so its not exactly the best at scanning)
