I have a lan connection & the ISP registers the MAC address of the NIC so that no other computer can use my IP. Few months back my brother got a laptop, we tried to connect it to the net but it just would'nt take the IP. I contacted the ISP & the folks there told me that to allow the laptop I would have to pay a registration fee, so I went on google & found something called SMAC it allows you to change the MAC address of the NIC I have tried it & it works beautifully.

Hmm...software MAC spoofing, interesting.

BTW, if you two switch computers often, or will add more, most broadband routers also support MAC spoofing.

some NIC's drivers allow you to "change" the MAC in the cards advanced properties. Look for "Network Address" or similar.

I had seen the network address in the properties window but never knew what it was for :D .

Thanks
