Goto strat menu, run type cmd then type ipcofing/all write down where it saids ip address. Then goto
192.168.1.1 or whatver is ur routers ip is login click on dmz and type that address in the box where it saids 192.168.1.
Click on apply changes and ur done. If you haven't done static ips i suggest you do for hosting games it's right here http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=177[/url :D

There is no "disabling" of the firewall on a NAT router.
You can "bypass it" by putting a computer in the DMZ...which is a very poor approach, that computer is now totally unprotected...open to hackers.
Better approach is to find out what ports your particular application or game uses, and forward only those ports to the LAN IP address of your "server"...which helps to have a static LAN IP addres.
Refer to my article here for more help:

Ye old your right about dmz you could sygate as software firewall if you need it you can dowload it below me.
i know on some applications acutlly i might p.m you about this wierd mirc situation where I tried port mapping, and dmz no one can't connect to me. I"ve been racking my brian trying to figure this one out.

The thing about "If you DMZ your computer, you should software firewall it then"....puts you right back to what you were trying to avoid....being behind a firewall. Just a software one now. I find port forwarding much easier, and better performing.

THe thing is i can't really forward to those ports becasue im mainly trying to do this so i can host games for Halo one gamespy..but there really isnt a way to direct to ports cause its basically hosting with your xbox.

Hmmm...can't tell ya much about the XBox. My fiancee's kid has one, it's on the network and he plays out through the DSL, but he uses some XBox tunnel software which runs on his computer, and somehow tunnels the XBox games out. I have specific ports forwarded on the router to the IP of his computer in his room. He plays Halo often, and often hosts games.

No need to open ports.
Put the IP of the Xbox in the DMZ.

yea thats exactly what im doing..im using the gamespy xbox tunnel service to play halo with people online..ive been doing it for a long time but i have just recently wanted to host so i dont have to play with thier rules. I did manage to get my hosting abilities up but it only worked for about 5 hours then i went back to host again and it didnt work anymore. I dont exactly know what this means but ive been trying different programs such as norton firewall to give my programs abilities to teh internet...which i was told would work..and thats what i did the first time..but obviously its not working anymore..so i dont know
