I live in Canada and Im using Bell DSL High Speed Internet.... Past 2 weeks, my Internet connection has been gay.. I get disconnected randomly for 10-30 seconds, then my connection works again, then it disconnects for 10-30 seconds a few hours later, then works a few seconds later.. it's quite annoying, especially when you're gaming and downloading.. sometimes when someone calls, my internet stops working for few seconds, then works a minute later.. im not sure whether that is affecting it, it might be a coincidence because it doesnt happen every single time.. i phoned my isp for tech support, they said put double filters on all cordless phones, i did that but still this problem arises.. can someone plz help.. thx..

Who you? Why do you think nobody has replied? Ask in a mature professional manner and you might get positive results.

Let's be a bit more respectful. I think that's all anyone is pointing out.

Because of cultural/societal differences, words have different meanings. So in a forum which can be read anywhere in the world we need to use precise words to convey our meanings. Otherwise you get the responses that you got. In the 1890's "gay" had another whole different meaning. Gay can mean "happy", so your DSL line is happy? Your thread title should have been something like "DSL is not working". :)

In any case it seems that you need to have your provider come and see what's wrong. This kind of problem can't be solved over the phone. Have you tried to disconnect all phones to see if you still have a problem? Sounds like a lot of noise on the line.

having my provider come would cost like $30/hour... sometimes when i bring my cordless phone down beside my modem, i here lots of noise.. i talked to my provider, they're sending me new filters to see if they work.. they also said maybe i wired my phones wrong.. lol

When I had DSL installed I had a "home" run line from where the phone line comes into the house to where the DSL would be located. They put in a new NID, Network Interface Device, that had a filter built in. This had two places for wiring, one for voice and the other for data. This made it so that individual filters were not needed at each phone device. This works great. If you are hearing noise on the voice line I'd suspect that there may be some bad connections. But, the cordless phone could be picking up interference from the modem. Check a corded phone for noise.

I think that your ISP should make sure that the line is qualified for DSL and not charge anything. After all you are paying for the DSL. Threaten to cancel if you have to. But, then I don't know what regulations are in affect north of the order.:)

Check your wiring for proper connectivity. All connections should be female to male, or male to female.

male to male, and female to female connections have been known to cause gay types of connection problems.

Even back in the dial up days....everyplace I lived, since internet connection was important to me, I'd have the phone company come out and run a brand new line in from the street..into the house...all the way to the jack I'd plug my modem in.

Even my new house, phone line comes in on CAT3 from the street...then from the box out in CAT5e and 6 lines. Overkill? Yes. Ever have an issue with it? No.

hey YeOldeStonecat,

How much did that cost you?

Usually it's ended up being between a hundred to two hundred bucks, for the phone company guy to run the new line in from the street. Past apartments...usually in the mid one hundreds. Online performance is important to me, so it's always worth it.

New house I just had rennovated, I managed to keep the costs down by having the wiring guy our company uses do my house with 5e and 6. I supplied the cable.

The thing is, it's always a variable between your computer, and the phone or cable company. You don't know where the problem is, or if it's more than one problem. But at least if you do the best that you can, with what you have control over (your house structure, and the line to the street)....at least you know you did that. Half the time the problem is on your side.
