So I'm having major difficfulties connecting my linksys print server.
Seems like I follwed the directions to a T but, I cant just get over some obsticales.

My configuration is as follows:
A speedstream 5360 ADSL modem connected to the internet port on my router. Two boxes conected to the switch ports.

Switch port 1 has a box with XP home edition
switch port 2 has a box with windows 2000
switch port 3 is connected to the uplink port on the print server

I also have a laptop with windows XP pro on it that connects through a linksys wireless nic card to the router.

First I set up the hardware as specified by linksys.
Plugged the uplink port into port 3 on the router.
All link lights are a go.
Then I installed the driveres and the BI- ADMIN from the CD.
when I install the drivers and get to "configure print server" and click browse, I get the message "not found any print server on LAN, probably print server IP not assigned, use TCP/IP setup to assign IP.

This is my DHCP client table

DHCP Active IP Table
DHCP Server IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Client Host Name IP Address MAC Address Expires
bens 192.168.1.100 00:48:54:63:8F:12 12:42:56
benekenz 192.168.1.101 00:04:5A:80:C9:9D 22:32:21
toshiba-user 192.168.1.102 00:06:25:40:F2:51 21:28:09
SC0AED74 192.168.1.103 00:06:25:0A:ED:74 20:22:22

So if my router has released an IP address to the print server should'nt it have no problem connecting

I am really confused any help would be greatly appreciated

I prefer setting them up with a static IP address (outside the DHCP range), if obtain auto from DHCP, now and then you'll find it offline.

Have you tried hitting it with the web browser admin? If it already has an IP (103) you should be able to hit it via web admin.

I've had mixed results with those Linksys print servers...some offices have constant problems with them, others they run almost as good as an HP Jet Direct.

So I think there where just something internally wrong with the router. I could'nt even ping it directly.I called linksys and they told me to bring it back and get another one.

I will take your advice when setting the new up the new one.

Thanks for all the advice.

Thanks for getting back to us, sorry to hear you got a bum unit, but at least that frees up your head in thinking you're doing something wrong, eh? :D
